What is Aqualyx®?
Aqualyx is a non-surgical solution to help reduce and remove stubborn localized pockets of fat.
It is ideal for those who exercise regularly and maintain a healthy diet but who have pockets of fat that won’t shift, even with focused exercise. Aqualyx is an aqueous compound solution with slow-release sugar that minimises side effects.
It contains deoxycholic acid, which has been used in various fields of human medicine since its discovery. Present also in the human body, deoxycholic acid is used in the emulsification of fats for absorption in the intestine.

Aqualyx Ingredients Aqualyx is a compound solution belonging to the deoxycholate family, albeit modified to some extent.
The deoxycholate family – the conjugate base of deoxycholic acid – is a bile acid synthesized in the human liver.
Naturally occurring deoxycholic acid is used in the body’s natural process of fat emulsification, where fat is broken down so that the intestines can absorb it.
The key ingredients of Aqualyx include the following:
* Sugar obtained from red macroalgae
* A monosaccharide sugar
* Chemicals acting as a buffer system
* Deoxycholic acid
* Water (87%)
* Sodium chloride (0.8%)
How does it work? The solution is injected into the treatment area whereby the 12alfa-dihydroxy-5beta-24-oico cholanic acid sodium salt of AQUALYX alters the surface tension of the fat cell membrane and increases the permeability of the membrane.
The fat cells start to balloon and break up, leading to the drainage of microdroplets of fatty liquid into the body, which is then metabolised through the lymphatic system and excreted.
How many treatments does it take?
The time taken for a treatment session will depend upon the size of the area being treated.
Treatment can take between 30 - 60 minutes per treatment, and you will typically require 2 - 8 treatments, 4 weeks apart.
Some people may see significant results after 1 or 2 sessions.
For example, treatment for fat pockets underneath the neck and chin may require 1 - 3 treatments of 2 - 3 injections, while treatment for fat pockets on the hips and thighs may require 8 treatments.
